First, choose the currency that you want to use to receive. Always keep in mind: The BTC.com wallet supports two different cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash. These currencies are not compatible in the same way as you can’t mix euros with dollars in one bank account. Therefore be sure when you want to send or receive funds, you select the corresponding wallet section. You can switch in the Menu with the Bitcoin/Bitcoin Cash drop down. Tip: When you see a blue background in the interface, it stands for Bitcoin. When you see the orange background, you are in the Bitcoin Cash section.
We will now use Bitcoin for demonstration. Let’s say you want to transfer Bitcoin from another wallet, ask a friend to send you some, or send it to yourself from an exchange where you previously purchased your Bitcoin.
Go to “Receive” in the menu and copy the string of characters under “Bitcoin Address”.
A new address and QR code will be generated for you. You can copy, email, or SMS this information to the sender. You can also request a payment for a specific amount.
The generated address will remain valid forever, so don’t worry when you navigate to the “Receive” section next time but you see another string of characters. All your addresses are derived from one master public key and therefore they all represent your account. The reason we offer different addresses for new transactions is to keep your transactions private.
This process is the same Bitcoin Cash but you need to switch to the Bitcoin Cash wallet!
The following tutorial will show you how to send or receive your first transaction: https://youtu.be/p6Mn-MKghvk
